On the Set of Street Fighter High the Sequel

Hope everyone had a great Fourth of July weekend and enjoyed the many BBQs, I know I sure did. It's been awhile since I've posted here on Unity. Hope you all didn't miss me too much.

Awhile back, jgonzo posted a little fan film called Street Fighter High, written and produced by my friend Jennifer Zhang. If you forgot or haven't seen it yet, click here and check it out. With over 500,000 views on the internets, Jennifer decided to do a sequel.

So last weekend, I went down to Los Angeles for the first time in a LONG time NOT for work (sort of) and make an appearance in the film. Originally I was to be casted as a regular student but got promoted to being E. Honda. Sadly I didn't have any lines, but it was definitely fun to be part of the sequel. I also got to work with an awesome cast of characters which some are part of Capcom-Unity as well. Some of the Unity members include: EDG, Shadow_Lady_Chun-Li, Princess_Aura, BushinMaster and MoMakoto.

With one last scene still needing to be filmed, expect the sequel to come out soon. Hit the jump to check out some pictures from the set of Street Fighter High the Sequel.

Category: Capcom News

EVO 2010 is totally blowing up with more fun stuff every day, and now this! EVO and Capcom have teamed up with G4 to put competitive Street Fighter on TV! Apart from the TV show with X-Play, the entire event will be streaming live all weekend--45 hours of coverage!

"The passion and enthusiasm surrounding EVO is infectious and when you see the skill level of the top players, even those who don't dabble in fighting games will be slack-jawed," says Adam Sessler, X-Play Host and Editor-in-Chief of Games Content.

Well said, Sessler!

If you've missed what's going down at EVO this year, head here for an easy recap (hint: you can play a new build of MVC3 for free, hang out with Capcom producers, get your head bashed in by the best players in the world, scream like a madman, and so much more!), sign up and find a way to get yourself to the event at Caeasar's Palace next weekend. Otherwise enjoy the free stream, which is broadcast by G4, hosted on Stickam, and produced by LevelUp!

This is a huge deal not only for Street Fighter but for serious gaming in general, so if you've ever seen clips like this and said "why do I have to watch competitive dominoes and fishing when I could be seeing great gaming!?" then you owe it to yourself to watch this, and make your friends watch, your enemies, and their mommas too.

Hit the jump for the full press release!

Post-Holiday Street Fighter Catch Up!

Category: Capcom News

While we were on holiday break, there's been (as we say here in Northern California) "hella" Street Fighter news cropping up lately. Here are a few highlights for anyone that hasn't been poring over the internet for every iota of info:

--Our pal Maj over at SonicHurricane.com has put together another killer combo vid with Viper and Rufus.

--The Japanese SFIV blog gave us some new Super SFIV key art:

--The mighty Shoryuken.com also held voting for the "Best Match of the Year." All fighting games were eligible, but I was proud to see the finalists were all Capcom games, including SFIV, Tatsunoko Vs Capcom, MVC2, and SF3: Third Strike :) There were a ton of great finalists, and you can find the winner and runners-up here!

Come to the PC Gaming Alliance Booth at CES to See Capcom

Author: Sven
Category: Capcom News

As many of you know, Capcom is a very active participant within the PC Gaming Alliance, so it should be no surprise that we (and several of our co-members above) are bringing "the goods" to the PCGA CES booth.

First off, the booth is in the North Hall - Booth #5616

While Capcom will have a suite set up off-site for media and a few consumer events, the PCGA booth is the only publicly available place during the show to check out our wares.

So on that Capcom front, you'll get to play Dark Void PC (with special Nvidia-powered PhysX enhancements) weeks before it's available publicly. This is the first time we'll show the enhanced PC version publicly so it's a great opportunity for everyone to see how amazing it looks. We'll have Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter IV PC setups (complete with SFIV Tournament Edition Fight Sticks) also available for networked play over Games for Windows Live.

You'll see new ATI Eyefinity triple monitor supported games running on a sweet Intel Core i7-powered Alienware ALX system. New Alienware M15X and M17X will be showing off games on the highest performance laptops in the market. Microsoft will have all systems present running on Windows 7 and you'll see some of the new touch-screen games that MS is promoting to make use of those features running on a new Dell touch-screen PC.

There will be give-aways too... copies of Street Fighter IV PC, World of Goo, Dirt 2 PC, special limited edition Dark Void Will figurines, an ATI graphics card, Games for Windows Neon signs and more. Different give-aways will happen on different days and with different qualifications to win. Stop by the booth early each day to see what's what.

For an extra special treat (or not, depending upon your point of view), I'll be in the booth Friday from 2PM until 6PM if you wanted to set a special time to come by and say "hi".

Super Street Fighter IV Las Vegas Fight Club!

Author: s-kill
Category: Capcom News

Capcom is headed to sunny Las Vegas for CES, and what better way to start the New Year than with some brand new Super Street Fighter IV action?

Yep--we're throwing a little Las Vegas "fight club," and it will be the first chance anywhere for people to go hands-on with the new characters. In addition to the returning SFIV cast, and SSFIV newcomers, Juri, Dee Jay, and T. Hawk, we'll also have Guy, Cody, and Adon playable all night!

Where: Las Vegas, in our suite in Planet Hollywood.

When: Thursday, January 7th, from 7-10pm.

How: Send THIS GUY a note explaining why we should pick you. If you get in, you can also bring 1 guest--everyone must be 18+ with ID to get in!

It'll be the invincible Team Unity vs rag-tag band Major Nelson can pull together, and we may also hold a friendly little tournament. There will be prizes for all, but the tournament would have a special format that nets you bonus points for winning with the new characters. If you want to claim the top prize, don't plan on just hadokening your way to the finals--come ready to try out the new guys too.

If you get in, we'll respond to let you know the room number--because capacity in the suite is limited, if you don't get a reply, don't plan on just showing up, because we won't be able to get you in. The hotel almost shut us down last year, so we'll get as many as we can through the door, but you'll need an invitation!

Street Fighter IV wins “Game of the Year” from San Jose Mercury News

Category: Capcom News

I was very happy to see Street Fighter IV pick up some nominations not just for "Fighting Game of the Year," but actually for "Game of the Year" overall, and now it's actually won the award from the surprisingly game-savvy folks at the San Jose Mercury News:

No other release rejuvenated a genre more than Capcom's flagship fighting game. It grabbed a new generation of fans and reignited the passion of old-school gamers in the series. The huge turnout at Evo Championship Series 2009, the preeminent U.S. fighting game tournament, is proof of that. The return to the classic gameplay, along with some new tweaks and a great online mode, made "Street Fighter IV" the game I played and loved the most this year.

It's nice to be nominated, but nicer to win, and an EVO shoutout to boot! Thanks guys!

Forget Christmas–today is the 15th Anniversary of “Street Fighter: The Movie”!

Our friends over at Kombo.com reminded us that it was 15 years ago today that "Street Fighter: The Movie" headstomped onto theaters across America.

They've dug up this Entertainment Tonight clip (hosted by an only semi-famous John Tesh), talking with Raul Julia from beyond the grave and of course JC Van Damme. I encourage you not to listen too closely to JCVD--by my estimation only about half of what he says is even sort of a sentence.

Triumvir’s Shadaloo Psycho Brigade is Here

Author: s-kill
Category: Capcom News

You might have seen Triumvir hanging around lately and teasing us with their plans for world domination the 2010 lineup.

As of late yesterday, the wait is over, and they've got a ton of new stuff up for preorder, from hats, to t-shirts, to flannels, to a new jacket (I wore my M-65 jacket from last year's collection in to work today, coincidentally).

Head over to their site to see the whole line, and to read a little bit about the inspiration behind what they're doing:

I understand there are different types of collectors within every genre and I do not expect all Street Fighter fans to like what we're doing... it's not about that. I myself, am one of those collectors who is lucky enough to work with a company like Capcom and fortunate enough to say, "hey wouldn't it be cool if Shadaloo came out with a jacket like this..." and actually be able to produce it and share it with fellow Shadaloo fans.

Pre-orders are up now, and if last year is any guide, this stuff is going to go FAST so get it now.
