North America will be getting them sometime after that (no confirmed date as of yet). The two figures are Chris Redfield and Wesker as they appear in Resident Evil 1. The cost is a bit steep at £159.99, but then again, these are high quality and truly for collectors.

Resident Evil Tribute Contest Extended!

Author: jgonzo
Category: Capcom News

We've gotten some really good entries for the Great Resident Evil Tribute Contest that we got going on and we wanted to give more people the chance to enter by extending the contest by a week. The last day for entries will now be Sunday, December 13th! We've even added a few things to the prizes!

There will also be prizes for 2nd and 3rd place that we will announce once we get all submissions.

Now, how do you get to win these awesome prizes? As we did with the Mega Man Tribute Contest, all you have to do is create something to show how passionate you are about Resident Evil: baked goods, home-made models, music, videos, art, costumes, etc. Please be sure that it is something new that we haven't seen before OR something that has been improved upon. Your goal should be to warm our cold, jaded hearts on the panel because here at Unity, we've seen tons of fan made Resident Evil stuff.

If you're not sure if something has been done or not, do a quick search on the site.

To enter, send a link to your tribute project to this account with a message with the Subject Line: "Resident Tribute Contest"

So do your best: whether it's art, poetry, songs, videos, decorative pillows, baked goods, whatever! Show us your appreciation for the Resident Evil series and you can win!

Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles Invades London’s Zombie Walk

Author: jgonzo
Category: Capcom News

First Toronto, and now London! Beware international Resident Evil Fans! Capcom will be present in central London in front of the Tate Modern on Halloween to celebrate the upcoming launch of Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles in true zombie fashion.

From Capcom-Europe's website:

We're offering a free Nintendo Wii and a copy of the latest instalment in the Resident Evil series to the best dressed zombie. Two more zombies will win a copy of the game for the best zombie stagger and the best zombie moan.

The zombie Walk is taking place from 12 noon on Saturday 31st October outside Tate Modern. Zombies should horde from noon and then prepare to go on the 'rampage' across the Millennium Bridge.

Your zombie contacts will meet you at Tate Modern from noon. Please don't eat them.

Members of the press will be invited to take photos, so shy zombies need not re-animate.

Free zombie make-up will also be applied by an expert to the first 20 Zombies who stagger over. Please arrive at 11am if you want make-up done.

Zombies can also get their photographs with two glamorous zombies who will be putting in an appearance.

New “Mystery Woman” Revealed for Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles – Guess the Name!

Author: MattD
Category: Capcom News

As most of you know by now, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles is not just about the experiences from Resident Evil 2 and Code Veronica. There is a brand new storyline which will tie everything together, and until now, we have kept our lips sealed on the details.

To go along with Capcom's presence at Games Com, today we are pleased to reveal the first taste of the new content to come. I would like to show you a brand new character to the Resident Evil series.

Her name is... hmmmm... what was her name again?

I think we need your help here. For shnitz and giggles, we'd like to have you guys guess the name. And since guessing games are no fun without incentives, the top 3 most "inventive" guesses will be awarded one of those fancy zombie head t-shirts.

Leave a comment with your guess, and good luck!

UPDATE:

214 comments - very nice! Thanks for all the guesses.

We have selected our winners of the t-shirts, though it was pretty difficult to pick out of so many options. :)

Either way - congrats to the winners! Someone from Capcom will reach out and make sure you get your prize.

Mega Man Marathon A Success, Resident Evil Marathon Scheduled For Halloween

Author: jgonzo
Category: Capcom News

We told you about TheSpeedGamers' 72 hour Mega Man marathon last Friday and the results are in: they managed to collect over $7,000 (just a little above their outlined goal)! The marathon ended and went into overtime that included some celebratory dancing and singing, including an impromptu Simple Minds karaoke performance. They didn't get through all of the games that they had listed, but it was a good effort nonetheless!

We tip our hats to the gents over on the site for a job well done and wish them luck on their next marathon (scheduled for Halloween) which will be based on the Resident Evil series!

Meet the New Community Manager: Joveth (aka jgonzo)

Author: jgonzo
Category: Capcom News

Hey everyone! The name is Joveth and I'm the latest addition to the Capcom Unity team, joining fellow community managers Snow and s-kill. Rather than remain a figure of mystery and intrigue and stay hidden in the shadows, I wanted to tell you all a little more about myself. My gaming history goes all the way back to Mattell's Intellivision, which then progressed to (in order): NES, SNES, N64, PS1, PS2, 360, Wii, and finally the PS3. Along the way, I also picked up the original game boy, GBA, Game Gear, and the DS (and at some point, Tiger Electronics' Quiz Wiz which I really wanted for my 12th birthday thanks in part to an endless barrage of television ads).

BTHR Zero X (Scott) is Going to Captivate09

Author: Snow_Infernus
Category: Capcom News

Captivate09 is just around the corner, and with it tons of new Capcom news will be flooding in. As you know, this isn't just solely a press event. No no, community plays a big role. So who's going out to Captivate this year from Unity? BTHR Zero X (Scott) and Andy (um... Andy).

First though, why did we chose Zero? Well, he's been a long time Capcom, since Chip and Dale on the NES (He alsohad Megaman back in the day too but that use to make him throw his controller). He's been around since the old Capcom BBS, and has stuck around. He's on nearly everyday, blogging, posting, helping out other fans with in-depth guides, and just being a really great fan of Capcom.

He's really made quite the impression on a lot of the other members here with his generous spirit and willingness to help. In fact, I myself have caught up with Zero on XBL for help on various games. And he can't seem to choose just one favorite Capcom game (who can?). Heloves the Street Fighter Series, Resident Evil Series, Mega Man Series, Monster Hunter Series, Dead Rising, Lost Planet, Bionic Commando and many more. I asked him to choose a favorite, and I think the inner struggle to decide nearly made him pass out.

This barely scratches the surface of Zero's fan hood. But overall, he's one of the most active members on Unity, so feel free to chat with him and ask all about his Capcom love. As Zero says, "I love the Community, the Profiles, Blogs, everything. It's a great place to come and hang out and chat about everything Capcom and Capcom Related."

We'll catch up with Andy tomorrow for talk about his passion for Capcom games.

A Little Trip to Seattle with Resident Evil 5

Author: Snow_Infernus
Category: Capcom News

Yesterday, Matt and I flew out the Microsoft's Xbox offices to show off some RE5 to their MVPs. The MVPs are leads in the Xbox community from all over the world, and had the chance to come play the game early. I managed to snag a few pictures of the event, and talk to the guys & gals to see what they thought of Resident Evil.

As we walked up to the office, it looks like any other on the outside... But inside it was decked out with a cool Xbox theme covering every inch of the walls and featuring a few little Capcom titles you may have heard of... Like Street Fighter IV, and Resident Evil 5. Aside from the cool and modern decor, we got straight to business setting up the play test area with builds of RE5.

Resident Evil Degeneration Ships Over 1.5 Million Units

Author: Snow_Infernus

Resident Evil Degeneration has now shipped over 1.5 million units worldwide! If you haven't seen it yet, pick it up. It's one of the only video game movies that actually tries to stay focused on the game's story instead of Hollywoodising (is that a word? probably not) it. You'll also find the characters look like the in the game, since the entire film is in CG. It's a great flick for any RE fan, especially if you're as into Leon's hair as I am. Read more...
