Capcom Unity member Reno has just posted a video showing off the highlights of this year's Super Battle Opera. It's a short five minute look into one of the world's biggest fighting tournaments, so if you want to see what it's like, now's your chance. You can find more coverage about the event here, here, and here!

Unity gets Up Close and Personal with Super Battle Opera

Reno, our man in Japan, took the time to write up a great personal report from his trip to this year's Super Battle Opera chock full of great details and pics.

For anyone that doesn't know, SBO is Japan's national fighting game throwdown, with tournaments on games like Tatsunoko Vs Capcom, SF3: Third Strike, Fate unlimited/codes, and of course SFIV. Unfortunately, since the SBO kids keep a lockdown on all of their videos, Reno's campfire tales of glorious upsets and amazing underdogs is the best way you can get in on the action for the next couple months. Fortunately it's a great read, so check it out.

His report is so in-depth that it comes in 3 separate parts on his Unity blog. Get them here:

Street Fighter IV Totally Dominates Prestigious Arcadia Awards

If you aren't keyed into the Japanese arcade scene, Arcadia Magazine is like the New York Times of arcade games-it's THE place to go in Japan for amazingly in-depth and expert coverage of a large amount of titles (and no, I don't write for them anymore!). They also sponsor the awesome Super Battle Opera tournament, so it's safe to say that these guys know what's up.

SFIV wasn't really in the running for any Game of the Year awards in the West, since it's "merely" an arcade game right now, but in the one place on earth where the game is in wide distribution, it's blowing everybody away.

Street Fighter IV won:

-GAME OF THE YEAR

-Best Graphics
-Best Production
-Best Character (Ryu)

I'm not sure a single game has ever been so dominant.

And just in case you thought SFIV was only popular with the Arcadia editors, here is where I tell you it also won the write-in Reader's Choice voting for best game of the year. Beastly!

Thanks MarkMan and Reno for the translations!
