What are we doing the very first day we're back in the office for 2010? Why, throwing a party, of course :)
On Monday, January 4th, from 5-8pm, we're inviting you down to Capcom's San Mateo HQ to play the final build of Tatsunoko Vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars almost a month early! We'll have all the insane characters unlocked, plenty of joysticks, pads, Wii-motes, drinks, pizzas... well, you get the idea.
But
wait... there's more! What better way to show off the
final build of the game than with special guest Justin
Wong? While most of you may know Justin as the
US SFIV and Marvel Vs Capcom 2 champ, he's also a beast
at Tatsunoko Vs Capcom, and was US representative in TvC
at the Japan's Super Battle
Opera tournament. He'll be on hand to offer
some tips and play some matches, so come on
down.
For any Bay Area residents that won't be able to visit us in Vegas, this is the perfect chance to get your fight on, with tips from the country's greatest fighting gamer.
All ages welcome, so drop ME a message if you can make it. I'll get in as many as we can, but you'll need an invitation, so I'll reply to let you know if you're in!
Time is up for the Ace Attorney Investigations Caption Contest, and we've chosen our favorites! We have NinjAttorney above in first place, and our second place was Naomi with the quote "Lang: 'So tell me, is that a table cloth around your neck?'Edgeworth: 'That depends, is that a ferret around yours?'"
Congrats to our winners! We'll be sending them some signed posters and swag that you could only get in Japan.
UPDATE #2: Well, what'd you
think? Hope you all had a blast! We got to see Mega Man
10 in action, had some of your previously submitted
questions answered, and had our Mega Man Tribute contest
winners honored! We had over 60,000
80,000 viewers worldwide!! Be sure to
discuss anything that you saw tonight over in the forum
link below and/or in the comments. The archived video
will be available soon.
UPDATE: We've updated the embed code so the video should look a bit better.

Dunno about you, but as a Mega Fan, I'm constantly jealous of all the killer Blue Bomber goods produced in Japan that are near-impossible to find in North America. That's why I'm very happy to bring you a preview of some Mega Merch currently in production by new Capcom licensee FAB Starpoint. FAB Starpoint are in the process of signing distribution deals with retailers across the continent (hopefully including our own Capcom eStore), with an eye towards the products reaching your hot little hands in the beginning of the year. As a bonus, the folks from FAB Starpoint will also be checking the comments on this blog post to see which items you liked. Also, if you've got any clever ideas for Capcom-themed stationary/baggage items you'd like to see made, toss 'em out in the comments.
An interesting and surprisingly well-researched article from Jezebel coming up with ideas about Japanese women's apparent interest in Samurai stories and games. They talk to Sengoku Basara's Kobayashi-san, and drop a healthy dose of Japan-o-centric sociological stats.
"Girly men have no interest in fast cars, career success, designer labels and trophy women. Instead, they hold down humble jobs, cultivate women as friends rather than conquests and spend their free time shopping at small boutiques and pursuing in Japan what is regarded as a profoundly feminine pastime: eating cakes."
Interesting stuff, no matter which side you come down on. Check it out here.
What do you think? As a grass-eating girly-man myself, I'd be offended if I wasn't too busy eating a fancy cake.
Two new Halloween videos from Japan's God's Garden arcade, featuring some of the best of the best. Okay, maybe they're not "halloween" videos, but the arcade is pretty dark, and facing Daigo is certainly scary?
Regardless, first up is Daigo (Ryu, duh) vs TKD, one of the best El Feurte players in the world. The only sad thing here is that Daigo is playing on such an incredible level lately that we don't get to see the full power of El Fuerte's tricks while he's getting run over. In talking with Daigo recently, he said he thinks he might be playing the best Street Fighter of his life right now--certainly the supreme confidence on display in this match means he is definitely believing his own hype!
The other new video is two of the country's other top players, Oji-san Boy (as Sagat) vs Kindevu's Rufus.
There are also two famous players commentating on the match (Mago on the left, Tokido on the right), though that's just kind of a tease unless you speak Japanese :) Enjoy!
