Sengoku Basara is like the Michael Jordan of Japanese historical video games with all of its endorsements and partnerships. First there was the drink, then the rice, then the karaoke parlor food, and now APPLES!
In celebration of the anime and the completion of the game in Japan, Capcom Japan has partnered up with the city of Ueda in Nagano Prefecture for this line of Sengoku Basara apple juice, cider, and wine. Tasty!
Look, I'll be honest with you: this pillow
is unsettling at best and tongue-curlingly revolting at
worst. It's supposed to bring to mind the eyeless and
flabby Khezu, the electrical bastards you fight
throughout Monster Hunter Freedom
Unite, but from where I'm sitting -- a
comfortable distance away, mind -- it definitely does not
resemble so innocent a giant monster. Joystiq
pointed this out as their editors were
undoubtedly trolling along in search of some unspeakable
tentacular anime and happened across this by accident.
Even more unsettling is the fact that the mouth can be
flipped inside out and streeeeeeeetched, just like the
Khezu's flailing head attack. If you'll excuse me, I must
now go and poke out my eyes.
Since
Fate/Unlimited Codes was released on September 3rd on the
PlayStation Network, everyone should be a crazy fighting
expert by now, right?
No? Oh,
well that's ok, because we've actually managed to find
some more Fate videos that former intern Arya recorded
just before his internship finished up with us. That's
right, Arya
Teaches Fighting is back!
In this, Episode 5, you get to see supporting
characters (at least in the anime) Bazett VS Luvi.
Bazett's moves are actually pretty nifty to watch with
her auras lighting up and adding style to her
attack.
We have more videos to
come, so be sure to come back tomorrow!
In addition to the possibility of acquiring the Ruby Spears cartoon, word has it that Funimation Entertainment also gained the license to distribute the long out of print Mega Man Upon A Star OVA, originally released by ADV Films in 2002. According to Sylar, a Funimation representative implied the acquisition at Anime Boston. Both the RS cartoon and Upon a Star were said to re-release in late 2010.
Apparently, Funimation has acquired the rights to several ADV properties over the last year, a possible indication that the company is planning on an eventual buy-out of ADV as a whole. The addition of the RS cartoon and the Upon a Star series further fuels that possibility.
Funi has yet to announce such plans via press release. Hope to hear more from this soon.
It's
been a rough year for print media, and I was sad to hear
that Anime Insider has followed suit, with the April
issue being their
last.
They
went out on a game-centric note, and the issue is full of
Capcom goodness, from it's Mega Man StarForce 3 cover to
a full spread on Capcom's anime-damaged past and future,
so be sure to check it out at a newstand near
you.
Capcom-Unity member XHunter is feeling real good right about now: Anime Fun TV, a local public access channel in San Antonio, Texas, plans on airing XHunter's "Rockman.Exe - Woodman" AMV on television. In addition, the AMV will be a part of AFTV's upcoming DVD (not for profit), set for distribution at Oni-Con 2009.
Showtaro Morikubo, the former voice of Rockman X (X5~X7) and Dynamo, has apparently divorced his wife/ fellow voice actress, Yu Asakawa. According to Anime News Network, the break up was a result of "differences in personalities." Well, that's a shame.
Beyond voicing X, Showtaro provided the vocals for various Rockman theme songs such as "Moon Light" (X6), "The Answer" (X6) and "Begin the Try" (Rockman.EXE animated series).
