"Spiral Of Lo" brings us this curious little image from the newly released Ryuusei no Rockman Official Complete Works depicting a strange PET like device. According to the text, the device will make an appearance in a brand new "Rockman story" that will serve as the successor in the EXE/Shooting Star time line. Who didn't see this coming?
What is
this video? It's what you do when the already
rough "Trial Mode" isn't man enough for you.
It's basically a fun way to exploit a feature of the SFIV
Trial Mode Challenges. So long as you do the
required moves in a combo, and in the correct order, the
game doesn't care what else you're doing in between.
This means you can get
a little bit stupid. For an example with
notation, look about 1:14 in for the Ryu Trial (word of
warning: Desk and Maj
are some of the world's foremost combo experts, so don't
feel too bad that they make the intentionally difficult
SFIV "Trial Mode" look like child's play):
What you
need to do to pass the Trial: jumping HP, cr. MP, cr. MP, cr. HK. Four
normal moves, just linked together.
What Desk did
instead: jumping
HP, cr. MP, cr. HP-> FB, FADC,
cr.
MP, cr. MK-> FB, FADC, cr. LK, cr. LP,
cr. MP, cr. HK
The fun part is that Desk's sequence still
passes the challenge--so long as it's a combo, and you do
the required moves in the right order, you can do
anything you like in between.
Whee!
So yeah,
Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G (we know it as the
forthcoming Monster Hunter Freedom Unite!) is like... a
juggernaut in Japan. Just how big is
that? 3 million
big.
How big is
that? This ad tells you that it's enough for
everyone in the ENTIRE Ibaraki
prefecture. Of course, since most of
you have no idea how big that is, or even what a prefecture
is, this is adorably ineffective gauge. As
Kotaku points out, it's kinda like everyone in Kuwait
having a copy. Or everyone in metropolitan
Chicago. It's a lot, okay?
You've probably noticed we've been talking a lot
about our upcoming game, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.
For the vast majority of you, Monster Hunter is probably
a new experience. So what can you expect from Monster
Hunter? What's it all about?
The concept is
really simple: Hunt huge monsters, carve pieces off of
them to make better armor and weapons to hunt bigger and
tougher monsters. Of course, there's also massive amounts
of depth to the game aside from just that. The
customization alone from armor and weapons pretty much
guarantees you'll never run into another hunter with
exactly the same setup and look. There's over 1,500
weapons, and more than 2,000 sets of armor to show
off.

Japan has released a new
Bionic Commando trailer made up of TONS of gameplay
footage. There's a lot of really cool moves shown in this
trailer that are just as much fun to pull off as they are
to watch. Get a glimpse of some cool things to expect in
the game, like bosses, weapons, and different things you
can do with the bionic arm and
grapple.
Times are tough. For you, for me, and especially the small family driven businesses like my all time favorite local bookstore: After thirty years of business, "Abraham Books" is closing up shop, falling victim to the "everything must go" demise. So I dropped by, scavenging for books that piqued my interest when I stumbled upon this little nugget: "Mega Man NT Warrior: Robotic Fish Gone Wild!" a "learn-to-read book" for children.
The book, (written by Tracey West in 2005) is a faithful adaptation of the NT Warrior episode of the same name wherein "DenTech City" is attacked by a swarm of nutty robotic fish
As you can see to the left, the dialogue is simple and charming, clearly written for first time readers. Older fans won't get much out of it as you can whip through it in under two minutes. What's really cool are the pictures, full color screenshots from the actual episode -- it makes learning fun!
Simply put, this book is just awesome; it's great for teaching kids how to read, especially those who have a fascination with the Blue Bomber.
You can purchase the book at Amazon for a measly $0.19! New copies will run you $5.00 -- way cheaper than what I got mine for. :)
Ever think
"you know, I think I WILL count those chickens before
they hatch!"? Don't--it's still a bad
idea.
Here's a funny video from a
tense match at Final
Round XII, one of the many places SFIV around
the world where SFIV tournaments have been blowing
up.
There's about 3 paragraphs of
explanation in the youtube info section with some good
background, but to sum it up:
Sagat (aka "Liston") thinks he wins, celebrates
too early, but then loses. Viper (aka "Kensou")
had stood up in defeat, but quickly realized the match
wasn't really over, sat down, and beat Liston while he
was still doing the happy dance. Hilarity
ensues.
Heat Man recently got his copy of Ryuusei no Rockman Official Complete Works in the mail and as one would expect, he graciously posted some photos of the book's contents at The Mega Man Network. Heat writes:
"The book is pretty standard as far as the Official Complete Works series goes. It may be understandable why, when the book was first announced, it was tentatively named Ryuusei no Rockman 3 Official Complete Works - pretty much the first two thirds of the book are dedicated to that one title. Numerous pages are devoted to not just showing artwork, but slices of various levels of detail of that artwork. There’s also plenty of unused stuff, such as Pirate and Angel Tribe forms."
That's right, we're now giving you the
entire epic 40 hour experience that is Okami for the low
price of $20. That's $20 for either the PS2 or
Wii version, so pick the one you want and prepare
yourself for one of the most beautiful games ever
made!
